Dr. Ashley Huderson is a graduate of Spelman College (B.S. Chemistry) and agraduate of Meharry Medical College (Ph.D Biomedical Reserch). She has also completed the Education Leadership and Program Evaluation certificate course at Georgetown University in 2018.
Dr. Ashley Huderson currently serves as the Senior Manager of Engineering Education at the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), an adjunct professor of Biology at the University of the District of Columbia, and the founder and president of STEM Innovation Consulting. A culmination of personal and academic interest prompted her to turn her sights completely to diversity and inclusion issues within STEM education and embark on a career that would allow her to make a meaningful contribution on diversifying the scientific workforce and empowering those interested in STEM, regardless of their background.
In addition to Dr. Huderson’s academic training and professional experiences, her enthusiastic and outgoing nature have been immensely beneficial in helping her forge and maintain authentic connections with stakeholders on several professional, community-based, and volunteer teams. She has planned over 25 local and national engineering and STEM education focused conferences and convening’s for undergraduate and graduate students, evaluated, coordinated and implemented several student and agency initiatives aimed at creating a more inclusive and diverse STEM learning and working environment, and published over 12 peer reviewed articles, including two book chapters on Urban STEM education and counter spaces for minority women in STEM.
